How to claim an EV charge point grant?

ozev grant

Today we’re discussing the government home electric vehicle charge point grant…

The government (DVLA) will provide a grant towards each home EV charge point fitted, although this comes with several conditions:

  1. You must have or have on order a qualifying hybrid or full electric vehicle.
  2. The vehicle must be owned, leased for over 6 months or be a company vehicle.
  3. You must live at the address where the vehicle is registered.
  4. This address has designated off road parking where the charge point will be fitted.
  5. The charge point charging cable will not cross any public rights of way when in use.
  6. You’ve not claimed the grant previously.
  7. Strangely, if you own 2 qualifying cars concurrently you can get 2 grants if you fit 2 chargers.

If you meet these conditions, you can claim £350 off a home EV charge point installation, and EV charge point installation companies will normal knock this amount off the total price and claim the grant on your behalf.

As an example, our best-selling tethered charger (Wallbox Pulsar Plus) normally costs £849 for a standard installation, but if you qualify for the grant, you only pay £499 and we claim the remaining £350 from the DVLA on your behalf, so you don’t have too.

And our best-selling and world’s smallest socketed charger (Sync EV) normally costs £899 for a standard installation, but if you qualify for the grant, you only directly pay £549.

If you don’t qualify, don’t worry you may still be able to have a charge point fitted, although you will have to pay the full (non-grant discounted) price.

Some important information:

Next year, the grant will no longer be available for house owners or tenants with designated parking.

…so, if your thinking of getting a charge point fitted, you best do it sooner rather than later.
